Eigashima has been producing high quality ex-bourbon barrel aged umeshu / plum wine for decades. This unique barreling offsets the sweetness of plums and adds a body and depth in flavor more similar to artisanal brandy. This release is Eigashima's classic single malt whisky aged 3 years in ex-bourbon casks and then finished for 1 year in house seasoned ex-umeshu casks.

Akashi 4 Year Ume Cask Single Malt Japanese Whisky - 750 ml

This is the second release from the Tokiwa Imports Sommelier Series. Two Pinot Noir casks from a renowned winery in Lompoc, California, were sourced and curated by Master Sommelier Kenneth Fredickson and then sent to Eigashima in early 2016. Four-year-old single malt initially aged in ex-Bourbon barrels spent an additional 18 months in these Pinot casks, resulting in only 500 bottles of this rare release. The staves of Sirugue French Oak have truly imparted elegance to this Single Malt Whisky.
