Diplomatico Ambassador Selection Rum has a reputation for its exquisite taste and quality. Hand-crafted in Venezuela, Diplomatico's rich history dates back to the late 1950s. It is the work of Its Master Blender, Tito Cordero, who is one of only a few Rum Masters globally.

What makes Diplomatico stand out is its meticulous process from cane to bottle. It uses sugar cane honey and yeast for fermentation, then distilled in copper pot stills before being aged in casks for up to twelve years. It is one of the few rums in the world to adhere strictly to the 'Complex Distillation' process.

Tasting Notes

On the nose Diplomatico Ambassador Selection Rum boasts an enticing aromas of dark chocolate and roasted nuts, combining subtly with caramel and nuances of cinnamon and clove. It delivers a beautifully balanced palate of vanilla, red fruits, and honey, with slight balsamic, woody spice, and cocoa notes. The finish leaves an endearing smoothness with a long, warming finish of complex spicy notes and a hint of sweet nutmeg.

Production Notes

Diplomatico Ambassador Selection Rum is crafted meticulously from the start. It commences with the selection of the best sugar cane, converting it into sugar cane honey. The honey undergoes fermentation, employing a proprietary strain of yeast developed in-house.

It is then distilled in ancient copper pot stills, following which it enters a long aging process in white oak barrels for up to twelve years, capturing the environment's unique characteristics.

Before bottling, the rum is transferred to Pedro Ximenez sherry casks for an additional two years, intensifying its flavors and providing it with its incredibly complex character and unique taste.

Rich and concentrated, this is a blend of rums aged up to 12 years, then aged an additional two years in former PX Sherry casks. The end result is luxurious, thick in caramel, toffee and gingerbread flavors that finish long and elegant, with clove, allspice, dry cocoa, leather and orange peel accents. It sips beautifully.
