amp;quot;A brave arm makes a short sword." -AnonymousThis ancient proverb may have been true for flesh and blood Samurai, but it isn't so for LEGO Samurai! You see, their little plastic arms can withstand much more abuse from swordsso long as those swords are also made from plastic. Alas, we have the Katana, a traditional Japanese sword commonly seen in feudal Japan. The Katana likely originated in China, not Japan, and its use was restricted to Samurai warriors. Important features of the Katana include its distinctive curved blade with a circular or square guard, and a grip large enough for two hands to comfortably fit. The greatest feature, however, is the way in which this sword is sheathed. The Katana sits blade-edge-up allowing the Samurai to impose great harm merely from the act of retrieval. This method of sword-drawing is still integrated into Japanese society today in a practice known as iaido. Our Katana can't inflict quite the same harm as the real one, but we think that's a good thing. So go ahead LEGO Samurai, be brave!
