COURSE OVERVIEW
An effective supply chain system ensures that the right pharmaceutical products in their right quantities are delivered to the right customer at the right place and time in the right condition and at the right price. The achievement of this depends on the accuracy and efficiency of several inventory and warehouse processes. Inventory processes such as tracking and record keeping ensures that drugs are available in adequate quantities to be provided in the right amounts; product inspection and expiration date tracking will ensure drugs provided are in the right condition for patient use, and medication manufacturers and distributors review may enable price negotiation and provision of right pricing of pharmaceutical products to consumers. In warehouse management, accurate picking and dispatching ensures the right product is delivered in the right quantity; correct labeling and loading ensures products are delivered to the right customer at the right place, and adequate storage ensures that products are in the right condition.
In this course, students will therefore appreciate the role of inventory and warehouse management in the supply chain system, learn the various processes involved in inventory and warehouse management and the various methods and technologies that will improve the efficient management of inventory and warehouse to boost the pharmaceutical supply chain system.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon the successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

- explain policies, practices, strategies, systems, and theories that underlie pharmaceutical commodities inventory management
- explain policies, practices, strategies, systems, and theories that underlie pharmaceutical warehouse management
- formulate strategic and operational decisions regarding warehouse operations
