Description
COURSE OVERVIEW
Effective quantification of commodities requires access and use of reliable data, knowledgeable personnel, and the coordination of key stakeholders. Without these three key components, quantification exercises often lead to inadequate forecasts of commodity needs, resulting in an under- or oversupply of essential commodities. Quantification incorporates both forecasting and supply planning and this course seeks to discuss all the processes and methods leading to effective quantification, forecasting and supply planning for health commodities.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The main objectives of the course are to help students:
- describe the basic concepts of forecasting and quantification of pharmaceutical products and identify the importance of forecasting and quantification in the overall pharmaceutical supply chain cycle.
- Outline the process of demand planning including key steps in the quantification process.
- Describe the different quantification methods and identify the appropriate quantification method in any given scenario.
