COURSE OVERVIEW
A successful and effective running of a pharmaceutical supply chain system will require knowledge of ethics and laws that govern the supply of medicines. In this course, students will be given an overview of these laws and ethics that regulate procurement, supply and monitoring of pharmaceuticals, including controlled substances. Regulatory processes involved in medication adverse effect detection, assessment and prevention will also be discussed. Lastly
, students will learn about sustainability practices in the pharmaceutical supply chain system and the importance of it.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon the successful completion of the course, students should be able to:
- analyze ethical issues and considerations that characterize pharmaceutical supply chain operations.
- appreciate and apply national and international regulatory frameworks and laws that govern pharmaceutical commodity production, supply and marketing, transport and distribution, consumption, and disposal.
- explain the operational requirements and regulatory processes involved in the detection, assessment, understanding, and prevention of adverse effects of drugs.
- apply national and international legislation and guidelines to drug safety monitoring, to proactive strategies for risk management for improving patient safety.
- appreciate and apply local and international sustainability practices to pharmaceutical supply chains.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On completion of the course the students should be able to:
