Description
COURSE OVERVIEW
Supply chain analytics is the application of mathematics, statistics, predictive modelling and machine-learning (i.e., analytics) techniques to generate business insight from supply chain data such as ordering, shipment, transactional, and sensor data. This course seeks to apply several analytical techniques and processes to discover meaningful patterns and knowledge from such data.
In this course, we will focus on modelling real-world cases in the supply chain and logistics industry. We will begin by providing an understanding of analytics in contemporary times. Specifically, we will discuss why analytics is important in supply chain especially in the flow of materials, people, money and information.
Further, we will look at how descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics are utilized in operations, procurement, logistics and supply chain management. Practically, we will use analytical methods and techniques such as inferential statistics, descriptive statistics, data mining and machine learning in varied areas of operations, procurement, logistics and supply chain management.
Finally, we will use two analytical platforms – Microsoft Power BI, and Python, for demand forecasting, inventory analysis, process analysis, optimization, simulation and decision analysis.
The course uses a hands-on approach for students to model various supply chain analytics on dashboards to solve industry related problems.
