COURSE OVERVIEW
This course is designed to equip students with working knowledge of agricultural supply chain finance and economics principles, covering key theoretical principles of agricultural finance and economics. It is intended to teach an awareness of the financing and economic policy needs and practices within agriculture and develop a clearer understanding of the implications of changing policy, trends, and theoretical principles in strategic planning for financing the agricultural supply chain. Issues of political, social, economic, and environmental pressures that increasingly influence land use in the economics and financing of the agricultural supply chain are also covered in this course. This course also examines current trends in financing agricultural businesses and supply chains.
COURSE OBJECTIVE(S)
The objectives of this course are to:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of agriculture economics and key challenges agricultural sector of low- and middle-income countries.
- Introduce students to economic and financial concepts and tools with direct managerial applications.
- Introduce students to the structure and implications for agricultural supply chain financing
- Enhance students’ analytical skills through the integration of their knowledge of economic theory with decision-making techniques
- Demonstrate a systematic understanding and application of strategic economics planning for financing the agricultural supply chain
- Critically evaluate contemporary debates in agricultural economics and finance.
- Implement health economic evaluations in clinical practice scenarios.

On successful completion of this course, students should have enhanced their skills in:

- Applying the principles of agricultural economics to crucial decision-making processes
